Trip itinerary
On arrival at Dubai International Airport you will be met by your driver for the overland transfer north to the Musandam Peninsula, crossing the UAE–Oman border to continue along the dramatic coastline to Khasab. Check in at your waterfront resort and enjoy a relaxed evening overlooking the calm waters of the fjords.
Accommodation: 3 nights Atana Musandam
Inspired by a typical Omani village, this beautiful resort offers 8 clusters of low rising buildings, with each of the 105 well-appointed rooms and suites featuring a private balcony and or a terrace with a captivating view of the waterway where you can witness the daily routine of the fishermen or simply wonder at the stillness of the sea or the grandness of the mountain.
The Musandam region of Oman is an enchanting tourism destination, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and adventurous experiences. Located on the northern tip of the Arabian Peninsula, Musandam is renowned for its stunning fjords, rugged mountains, and crystal-clear waters.
Today is dedicated to one of Musandam’s great highlights — a traditional dhow cruise through its fjord-like inlets. Sail past towering limestone cliffs, hidden coves and small fishing villages only accessible by boat. Keep an eye out for dolphins, which are often seen in these waters. Lunch is served on board, with time to swim or snorkel in the sheltered bays. Return to the hotel by late afternoon.(BL)
After breakfast, set out on a half-day mountain safari by 4WD. Drive into the rugged interior of Musandam, stopping at high viewpoints overlooking the fjords far below. Visit remote villages and experience the stark, beautiful landscapes that contrast sharply with the calm waters of the coast. The afternoon is at leisure to relax at the resort. (B)
This morning you will be transfered to Khasab Airport for your domestic flight to Muscat. On arrival at Muscat International Airport you will meet your driver and transfered to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.(B)
Accommodation: 2 nights Crown Plaza Hotel
From the impressive clifftop location of the Crowne Plaza in the Al Qurum Heights the hotel commands stunning views of the Gulf of Oman. The attractive cove below, now the hotel's private beach, is completely cut off from outside access at high tide and can be reached by steps leading down from the pool and garden area of the hotel.
Nestled between the Arabian Ocean and the Western Al Hajar Mountains, Muscat, Oman's capital, harmoniously blends ancient charm with modernity. As a vital trading port for centuries, Muscat has embraced significant development while retaining its cultural heritage.
It is a full day discovering Muscat’s highlights. Visit the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, followed by Old Muscat with views of the Al Alam Palace and the historic forts. Continue to the Muttrah Corniche and souq, one of the oldest markets in Arabia, returning to your hotel in the late afternoon.(B)
Today is one of the most scenic drives in Oman. Depart Muscat by 4WD and head into the mountains via the spectacular Wadi Bani Awf, one of Oman’s most scenic routes. Pass through remote mountain landscapes and stop at Bilad Sait, famed for its terraced fields and traditional stone houses. Continue towards the western Hajar Mountains and arrive at Jabal Shams, Oman’s highest peak and home to the “Grand Canyon of Arabia.”(BLD)
Accommodation: 1 night Sama Heights Resort
Sama Heights Resort is a mountain retreat located in the Al Hajar region of north eastern Oman, and lies at the foot of Jabal Shams Oman Peak, overlooking the raw and natural beauty of Jebel Misht, Wadi Ghul and the famous Wadi Nakhr, also known as the Grand Canyon of Arabia. The resort lies at an altitude of 2100m, enjoing cooler temperatures all year round.
Begin the morning at Jabal Shams with the famous Balcony Walk, a gentle yet spectacular trail along the rim of Wadi Nakhr, often referred to as the “Grand Canyon of Arabia.” The walk offers breathtaking views into the canyon and a sense of the scale and remoteness of Oman’s highest mountains. After the walk, descend from Jabal Shams towards the foothills and stop at Misfat Al Abriyeen, one of Oman’s most atmospheric mountain villages. Wander through narrow stone alleys, terraced fields and date plantations fed by ancient falaj irrigation channels, offering an intimate glimpse into traditional village life that still continues today.
Continue to the nearby town of Al Hamra to visit Bait Al Safa, a beautifully restored traditional house where local women demonstrate age-old practices such as bread-making, coffee preparation and textile crafts. Accommodation: 2 nights The Suwgra
The Suwgra (also known as The Cliff Guest House) is a simple and authentic Omani guesthouse located high in the Jabal Akhdar near the semi-ruined five-hundred-year-old village of the same name.
