Trip itinerary

Day 1

On arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Arusha (approximately 55 KM / 1 hour).

Accommodation: 1 night Arusha Serena Hotel.

Nestled at the foot of the wooded slopes of Mount Meru, this unique hotel in Arusha Tanzania stands amid coffee plantations on the shores of tranquil Lake Duluti. Designed to echo the traditional style of the colonial coffee farm, which originally stood on this site, Arusha Serena Hotel offers a range of tastefully presented cottage-styled rooms set amid extensive landscaped grounds.

Rooms and suites are presented in the style of stone-built cottages, which are grouped in clusters around a flower-filled central ‘village square'. Spacious and elegantly presented in classic country-house style, the accommodation features marble bathrooms, double French doors leading out into the gardens, leaded windows, a stylish work or vanity area, and large and comfortable beds.

Day 2

After breakfast meet your driver/guide for a briefing and drive in 4X4 safari vehicle into Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Dinner and overnight at your lodge (approximately 175 KM / 3.5 hours). (BLD)

Accommodation: 2 nights Ngorongoro Serena Lodge.

This unique lodge clings to the rim of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, one of the largest and most perfect volcanic crater’s on earth. The lodge, with 75 rock built rooms with panoramic views, is built from local river stone and camouflaged with indigenous vines. Designed to blend completely into the landscape, it is entirely invisible from the floor of the Crater 600 metres below.

Known as ‘the eighth wonder of the world' the Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa's best-known wildlife arenas. A UNESCO World Heritage site, it offers a unique biosphere, which has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time. Deep within the Crater, enclosed by towering walls, an abundance of wildlife wanders the plains, lakes and forests of ‘the land that time forgot’.

Day 3
Day 4

After breakfast you will travel to the Serengeti National Park, with a stop enroute at Ol’Duvai Gorge. Here in the ‘cradle of mankind’ the skull of a human being was found which is believed to be the oldest ever discovered. Dinner and overnight at your lodge (approximately 200 KM / 4 hours). (BLD)

Accommodation: 2 night Serengeti Serena Lodge.

Set high on the saddle of a tree-clad ridge, commanding panoramic views across the Serengeti, this lodge is the ultimate fusion of traditional African architecture and world-class style.

Centrally located adjacent to the famous Western Corridor and Grumeti River, the lodge has been designed to blend completely into the living landscape. A series of traditional domed ‘rondavels' are widely spaced throughout the grounds, which are cooled by groves of acacia trees and watered by sparkling streams. On the very edge of the ridge is a ‘vanishing horizon' pool, which looks out over the ‘endless plains' after which the Serengeti is named.

Each of the 66 charmingly presented rooms at Serengeti Serena Lodge in Tanzania are accommodated in a two-storey stone-built, traditionally thatched ‘Rondavel'. Looking out over the plains, each has its own private balcony, private entrance, spacious bedroom, natural stone bathroom and intricately carved furniture.

Day 5

Enjoy a full day of quality African safari time in the Serengeti National Park. Home to a vast array of Tanzania’s wildlife, there will be plenty of opportunities to see the 'Big Five', but to increase your chances a picnic lunch is provided so you won’t have to look away for a second! Dinner and overnight at your lodge. (BLD)

Day 6

This morning travel through the Serengeti National Park one final time on a morning game drive. Journey on to Lake Manyara where you enjoy dinner and overnight at your lodge (approximately 225 KM / 5 hours). (BLD)

Accommodation: 1 night Lake Manyara Serena Lodge.

Standing high on the edge of a towering terracotta escarpment with panoramic views over the glittering alkaline waters of Lake Manyara, Lake Manyara Serena Lodge offers a unique blend of tranquility, wildlife discovery and ornithological richness. Grouped around a central ‘vanishing horizon' pool, this highly unusual lodge features a simple timbered reception area, built in traditional African style, which is accessed via a bridge over a small stream. Beyond reception, lies the central dining room, bar and veranda, below which lies the pool. Perched on the very edge of the cliffs, with stunning views over the lake is the pool bar and observation point. Dotted around the grounds, all with views over the lake are a series of circular two-storey ‘Rondavels', which house the 67 rooms.

Day 7

Enjoy a morning game drive in the Lake Manyara National Park, the home of the so-called ‘Tree Lions’, before driving back to Arusha. After lunch you will be transferred back to either Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward journey (approximately 245 KM / 3 hours). (BL)
