Explore the diversity of the National Parks and Reserves of Namibia and Botswana. Seek out the wildlife, experience the culture, and view spectacular scenery of Sossusvlei and the awesome Victoria Falls. The safari crew consists of a professional guide, camp assistants and chef who are responsible for all camp duties.
Please note: There is not one specific type of vehicle assigned to the Southern Africa Safari, however typically utilises a 4X4 Cruiser or a ‘truck’ depending on final passenger numbers.
Full Itinerary
Day 1 - Windhoek
Windhoek, with its lingering heritage of German architecture, activities and atmosphere is a city that can be visited throughout the year. The day is spent at leisure. You are met by your guide at the hotel reception for a briefing at 18h00.
Mercure Hotel Windhoek is conveniently located just 500 meters from the domestic Eros Airport and 40 minutes from Hosea Kutako International Airport. The hotel offers 98 comfortable and affordable rooms, along with multiple restaurants and bars serving diverse local and international cuisine. Guests can relax by the pool, stay fit at the gym and spa, and enjoy proximity to the Central Business District, Namibian Craft Centre, and The Grove Mall, making it ideal for both business and leisure travelers.
Day 2 to Day 3 - Namib Desert / Sossusvlei
Your journey takes you south to the heart of the Namib Desert. The following morning is an early departure for Sossusvlei stopping in the dune belt to enjoy the changing colours of the world’s highest sand dunes. The morning is spent walking amongst the dunes of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei (shuttle into the dunes available at own expense). On the way back to camp enjoy a short hike through the Sesriem Canyon. Day 4 - Swakopmund
Swakopmund, with its German colonial atmosphere, is the principal coastal resort of Namibia. Time is spent at leisure to enjoy the charm of this old town or to undertake one of the many optional activities on offer (scenic flights, quad biking, etc. at own expense). (B)
A local guest house with access to be able to explore this coastal township.
Day 5 - Twyfelfontein
Enroute to your next campsite you will visit a Himba village to gain a glimpse into their way of life. The Ovahimba are a semi-nomadic tribe, who live in scattered settlements throughout the region. You will also visit the Damara Living Museum. Together with the Bushmen the Damara belong to the oldest nations in Namibia. You will experience the daily routine in the traditional museum, including the traditional blacksmith (making weapons and tools), tanning of leather (production of traditional clothes), jewellery and crafts, dancing, singing and traditional games, Holy Fire and fire making and much more. You will visit the Twyfelfontein area – a UNESCO World Heritage Site with over 2000 rock cravings and walk to view the ancient Bushman rock engravings. (BLD)

Day 6 to Day 8 - Etosha National Park
Today you will travel through the truly unique landscape of the Park which is one of the most important and best reserves and game sanctuaries the world. Etosha is the last remaining natural wild sanctuary of the black rhino. Enjoy early morning and late afternoon game drives, visiting the famous Etosha Pan and numerous waterholes. (BLD)

Day 9 - San Village
The earliest known inhabitants of Namibia are the San. Their language, which differs among the different groups and is characterized by numerous clicking sounds. The San people at the living Museum of the Ju/’Hoansi San at Grashoek are the only Bushmen still allowed to hunt traditionally. You will visit these beautiful people and learn from their ample knowledge. (BLD)

Day 10 to Day 11 - Kavango River
Travel north towards the border of Angola and enter the Kavango region which is the home of the well-known woodcarvers. You will camp at the banks of the Kavango River where hippos might be heard close by. The next morning visit Mahango Game Reserve, with the chances of spotting crocodiles, elephants, hippos and rare antelopes like sable, roan, and sitatunga. In the afternoon enjoy a mokoro excursion in this beautiful area. (BLD)

Day 12 to Day 13 - Chobe National Park
Enter Botswana where you will visit Chobe, famous for its magnificent sunsets and amazing landscapes. On your second day enjoy a morning game drive in the national park, searching for big herds of elephants. In the afternoon depart on a sunset cruise to watch the wild life from the comfort of your boat. (BLD)
