Trip itinerary

Day 1

On arrival at Cape Town Airport today, make your way to the Budget desk and pick up your medium-size manual hire car (Toyota Corolla or similar) with GPS rental included. Drive yourself to your hotel in Cape Town.

Accommodation: 4 nights Dock House Boutique Hotel.

After breakfast this morning you will drive yourself approximately 1 hour to Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands. (B)

Day 6

Full day at leisure to enjoy the food, wine and scenery of the Cape Winelands. (B)

Day 7

After breakfast this morning, travel to Swellendam, the third oldest settlement in South Africa. The town was founded by the Dutch East India Company in 1745 and is situated between Cape Town and George. Continue to Oudtshoorn for overnight. Your drive today will take approximately five hours along the scenic Route 62. (B)

Accommodation: 1 night La Plume Boutique Hotel & Spa.

Nestled amidst lush green grass terraces with vibrant gardens and offering spectacular views of the Swartberg Mountains and the Olifants River Valley, La Plume welcomes guests to a rejuvenating oasis. Day 8

Today drive approximately two hours to Knysna, known as the ‘Gem of the Garden Route’. Nestled between the impressive Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean, the Knysna estuary is protected from the sea by the monolithic sandstone ‘Heads’. (B)

Accommodation: 3 nights Tsala Treetops Lodge.

Ideally situated between the coastal towns of Knysna and Plettenberg Bay in the Western Cape, Tsala is a wonderful location from which to explore the beauty the celebrated Garden Route or just to spend time relaxing at the peaceful lodge. Tucked into the forest canopy, ten luxury hide-away suites are the essence of indulgence and romance. Day 9 - 10

Two full days at leisure to enjoy all the activities on offer along the Garden Route. (B)

Day 11

After breakfast this morning you will drive yourself approximately 3 hours to Port Elizabeth, along the wild and rocky coastline. (B)

Accommodation: 1 night Hacklewood Hill Country House.

Nestled in a lush English garden setting in the leafy suburb of Walmer. Built in 1898 Hacklewood Hill is one of the few remaining Victorian Manor Houses in the city, and as such retains much of the elegance and grace it would have boasted when its first inhabitants – a young doctor and his family – once lived here. Guests are greeted with intricately stained-glass doors, gleaming wooden floors and the gentle sheen of wooden banisters lovingly buffed and polished for more than a century. Wandering around the house’s two reception rooms, your eye naturally gravitates from one fascinating period piece to another.The manor house’s eight luxury en-suite rooms which are equally as enticing, especially as each so perfectly captures the essence of the Victorian Age. Each is individually decorated in palettes ranging from pastel blues and rose bedecked pinks to more masculine browns and reds.

After breakfast you will drive to Port Elizabeth Airport where you will drop off your hire car and check-in for your departure flight. (B)
