Trip itinerary
On arrival at Entebbe Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.
Accommodation: 1 night The Boma Entebbe.
The Boma is a small, friendly guesthouse located on the edge of Entebbe, and is well located for passengers flying in or out of Entebbe International Airport. There are eleven individually designed rooms, all with en suite bathrooms and decorated with an African theme. They all have large beds with mosquito nets and a small living area with chairs and a little table. The newer rooms also have a television. The bathrooms are fairly basic but large and all have hot and cold running water.
After an early breakfast, transfer to the airport for your scheduled flight and onward road transfer in Bwindi, enjoying the afternoon at leisure. (BLD)
Accommodation: 2 nights Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge.
Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge sits at a 7000-ft (2,161-meters) altitude on a magnificent ridge with stunning views across the rugged landscapes and the entire Virunga Volcanoes chain backdrop.
Nineteen Rooms in eleven private cottages, two family-style villas and four luxurious suites sit above the Bwindi Forest canopy with distinctive elegance and startling luxury amid forest trees, flowers, and shrubs. Locally styled furnishings grace the spacious rooms, and light fills the space from private viewing decks over the forest swath and beyond the entire Virunga Volcanoes chain.
At the highest point on the property sits a grand lounge building housing the dining, drinks and coffee bar spaces with expansive 360-degree views of the gorgeous rugged landscape.
Based on hundreds of reviews from guests, Nkuringo is an excellent base for gorilla trekking adventures in the south of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Nkuringo Sector (3 human-habituated gorilla families) and Rushaga Sector (8 human-habituated gorilla groups).
The lodge is a six-time winner of the World Travel Awards (WTA) as the Leading Safari Lodge in Uganda since 2016.
After breakfast, a 10-minute walk takes you to the park headquarters where you will meet the park officials for a briefing before the commencement of the tracking at 08h30.The gorillas we track belong to one of the 'habituated' family groups in Northern Bwindi. For several years each group has undergone an extremely delicate process that has gradually made them used to the presence of humans. Experienced guides will accompany the tracking, many of who have been involved in the habituation process themselves. Once the gorillas are located, the group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them.
BWINDI IMPENTRABLE FOREST
The park is located in south-western Uganda, covering parts of Rukungiri, Kisoro, and Kabale Districts. It is situated in a hilly countryside, which, together with some remnant lowland forest outside the boundary, constitutes an important water catchment area for many rivers, supplying the agricultural land of the surrounding region. This is the richest forest in Uganda, in terms of the number of plant species, as the area is one of the few large expanses of forest in East Africa where lowland and montane communities merge. The valley bottoms contain a dense ground cover of herbs, vines, and shrubs with only a few trees hence its name, the impenetrable forest. This is one of the richest faunal communities in East Africa. There exists about one half of the world's population of the endangered mountain gorillas. There are also several endangered species of birds with limited ranges.
Return to camp for an afternoon of leisure and overnight. (BLD)
After a final morning in camp you will be transferred back to Bwindi (Kihihi) Airport for your flight to Entebbe. (B)
