Mara Expedition Camp is a safari camp located in the Masai Mara Reserve that offers access to some of the region's best wildlife. It has six light and spacious canvas tents with en-suite bathrooms and a humble main area set in a grove of African acacia trees. From April to June 2023, the camp will add a new 2-bedroom family tent. The camp is positioned to take advantage of the annual Serengeti migration and the green season migration from Loita Plains, with full days of traversing some of Africa's richest game country. Access to Mara North Conservancy gives guests options of more privacy when not exploring the Masai Mara Reserve. The camp is locally famous for its leopard residents wandering nearby. The ambience and ‘back to the classic’ safari design will be a sure hit with private groups and safari enthusiasts alike.
Great Plains Foundation, the organisation that runs the camp, aims to restore indigenous trees to landscapes across Kenya, Botswana, and Zimbabwe. They work with local communities and schools, teaching the value of indigenous trees and their critical role in functioning ecosystems. To date, they have planted more than 5000 indigenous trees in deforested areas bordering Maasai Mara. Guests are encouraged to join in by planting a tree during their stay.
