Trip itinerary

Day 1

Distance travelled today: 550 kms
After an early morning departure from Cape Town, you will travel along Sir Lowry’s Pass, with its magnificent views from the top, to Grabouw and Elgin, a lush landscape surrounded by majestic mountains. Continue to Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet, and visit the historic Cape Agulhas Lighthouse. Journey onwards through the charming towns of Swellendam and Barrydale, via the spectacular Tradouw Pass and along the famous Route 62. Stop en route to sample traditional roosterkoek, a South African bread cooked over an open fire, before arriving in Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world. This evening, enjoy dinner at a working Ostrich Farm, featuring local specialities, before your overnight stay in Oudtshoorn. (LD)

Day 2

Distance travelled today: 90 kms
After breakfast, explore the magnificent Cango Caves, one of South Africa’s most celebrated natural wonders, renowned for their impressive limestone formations. Continue to a working Ostrich Farm for a fun and interactive guided tractor tour, offering insight into the region’s famous ostrich farming industry. Later, enjoy a wine tasting featuring some of the area's finest local wines before returning to Oudtshoorn for your overnight stay.(BD)

Day 3

Distance travelled today: 134 kms
After breakfast, travel over the scenic Outeniqua Pass to George, the sixth-oldest town in South Africa, renowned for its rich history and notable landmarks, including the King Edward VII Library, regarded as one of the finest examples of Edwardian architecture in the region. Visit the Outeniqua Transport Museum, home to an impressive collection of vintage vehicles, locomotives and railway artefacts showcasing the Garden Route’s transport heritage. Continue via the picturesque resort town of Wilderness to Knysna, the “Oyster Box of South Africa”, nestled on the shores of a beautiful lagoon in the heart of the Garden Route. Enjoy a traditional lunch featuring local cuisine and regional specialities en route. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure before joining a relaxing sunset cruise on the Knysna Lagoon. Overnight in Knysna.(B)

Day 4

Distance travelled today: 274 kms
After breakfast, you will be transferred (unescorted, driver only) to Port Elizabeth, heading eastwards along the Tsitsikamma Forest to Port Elizabeth which is known as the “friendly city”, with a wonderful climate. The tour ends on arrival in Port Elizabeth. (B)
