Trip itinerary

Day 1

On arrival at Maun Airport, you will meet your pilot for your charter light aircraft flight to the Sable Alley Airstrip. This is a flying time of approximately 25 minutes. (D)

On arrival at Sable Alley Airstrip you will be met and transferred to your camp.

Accommodation: 2 nights Sable Alley.

Sable Alley is a complete rebuild of a favourite old bush camp. Overlooking a lagoon that’s connected to the River Khwai, just a stone’s throw from the world-famous Moremi Game Reserve, this enviable location means the game literally comes to you. From the camp’s swimming pool, lounge and outdoor seating area we have an uninterrupted view of large herds of plains game, elephant and buffalo coming to drink– an idyllic way to spend an afternoon, especially with a cold gin and tonic in hand.

The comfortable and stylish tents are elevated on decks to give you a view of the lagoon, the tents have en-suite bathrooms, private verandas and private, indoor & outdoor showers where you can wash off the dust of each truly memorable day.

Day 2

Enjoy the next two days exploring the area with game viewing activities provided by the camp. (BLD)

Day 3

Today will start with game viewing activities whilst transferring to the Skybeds for your overnight experience of sleeping under the stars. This is a transfer times of approximately 2 hours. You will arrive in time for lunch and the settle in to your Skybed. (BLD)

Accommodation: 1 night Natural Selection Skybed.

Sleeping under the stars in the heart of the bush is not something you do every day, and we wanted to keep the experience as exclusive as possible. After all, it is not quite the same with 100 people snoring next to you. As a result, there are only three Skybeds sleeping a total of six people, and, just as importantly, each one is perfectly private from the next.

The Skybeds are no ordinary camp bedrooms. In fact, they are no ordinary tree houses. You’ll be sleeping high above the plains, raised two stories off the ground, and quite literally metres from a mammal-dominated waterhole. The upper platform is your alfresco bedroom, complete with bed and mosquito net. The snuggest of duvets will keep you warm when the desert temperature tumbles, and we even have hot water bottles to keep you extra toasty. The bathroom is on the second-floor level, with an enclosed shower, flushing loo, and private changing area.

PLEASE NOTE: The Skybed experience only operates between April and October each year. Outside of these months, this night is spent as an additional night at Sable Alley.

Day 4

This morning after breakfast you will be transferred to Sable Alley Airstrip for your charter light aircraft flight to Duke’s Camp Airstrip and your next accommodation. (BLD)

On arrival at the Airstrip you will be met and transferred to your camp in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive.

Accommodation: 3 nights Duke’s Camp.

Yesteryear charm and understated luxury in the wilderness, Duke’s Camp draws its inspiration from the crystal-clear channels of the Okavango Delta, which wind sinuously around this permanent camp. Offering front-row seats to the Okavango Delta, with glorious views over a flood plain and seasonal lagoon, you can immerse yourself in the wilderness with game drives, mokoro (dugout canoe) excursions, bush walks, fishing, and sunset boat trips. Hot-air ballooning, scenic helicopter flights and rock art visits are also available, at additional cost.

Pitched on raised wooden decks beneath a canopy of ebony and leadwood trees, the twelve luxurious safari tents offer an unforgettable under-canvas adventure in the midst of this remarkable World Heritage Site. Revel in the much-loved vintage safari aesthetic of plush fabrics, Persian rugs and hand-carved four-poster beds. Each tent offers a spacious en-suite bathroom, bedecked with brass fittings and bespoke amenities, as well as a private viewing deck. Herds of elephant and red lechwe are common here, and moments spent in quiet observation rarely go unrewarded.

Meals are enjoyed under the shade of the giant leadwood trees or in the communal dining tent, where the long vintage dining table dominates the space. Meals are a lavish affair of crystal glasses and antique silverware, with three-course dinners that celebrate the rich tradition of honouring guests with fine food and wine in the African bush. At day’s end, gather by the firepit to watch the mopane wood smoke curl up into the southern skies, hinting at tomorrow’s promise of yet more African adventure.

Day 5 - 6

Enjoy the next two days exploring the Delta or relaxing at the lodge. (BLD)

Day 7

This morning after breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight back to Maun and your onward arrangements. (B)
