With only a few hundred mountain gorillas left on the planet, it is little wonder that impassioned adventure seekers are heading to Africa to visit them. Rwanda is one of the only three countries in the world where you can go gorilla trekking and visit these magnificent, human-like animals.
This 4-day itinerary includes a city tour and overnight stay in Kigali. Peacefully nestled along picturesque hilltops, Kigali is a thriving African city immediately notable for its cleanliness, orderliness, and hospitality. A great place to begin or end any Rwanda itinerary.
Your journey then takes you onwards to Bisate Eco Lodge, for gorilla trekking. Bisate Lodge first opened its doors in June 2017 and offers a new level of luxury and conservation tourism to the country. Bisate Lodge is located in the natural amphitheatre of an eroded volcanic cone. The area has dramatic views of the peaks of the volcanoes Bisoke, Karisimbi and Mikeno rearing up through the Afro-alpine forests of nearby Volcanoes National Park.
Bisate Eco Lodge is perfect for gorilla trekking because it is within easy driving distance of Park Headquarters, from where the gorilla treks depart daily. Hike up the mountain to the bamboo forest, where you will come face to face with the mountain gorillas and spend what will seem like the shortest hour of your life in their overwhelming presence.
Gorilla trekking from Bisate Lodge is an experience that you won’t forget in a hurry!
