Trip itinerary
On landing at Cape Town International Airport you will be met by a representative and transferred to your hotel.
Accommodation: 4 nights Southern Sun Waterfront Hotel.
The Southern Sun Waterfront Cape Town is situated in the heart of the city’s most sought-after areas. Being a short walk away from the famous V&A Waterfront and other Cape Town sights is just the start of this iconic accommodation landmark’s appeal. Postcard views of the harbour and of Signal Hill are rivalled only by the stylish, inviting presence of the hotel itself. Recently refurbished, the award-winning Cape Town hotel offers 537 beautifully-appointed rooms, with a host of amenities and services on offer, including free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, a fully-equipped fitness centre and an outdoor pool.
After breakfast at your hotel your will be collected and commence a half day City and Table Mountain Tour. (B)
The tour commences with a tour of Table Mountain (weather permitting; cable car fee not included). Enjoy panoramic views over the Mother City and the Atlantic Seaboard with Robben Island in the distance lying sleepily in Table Bay harbour. After visiting Table Mountain enjoy a tour of the city, as you drive through the city you shall get a feel for the cultural melting pot that it is.
Spend two full days at leisure in the Mother City. (B)
This morning you will be collected from your hotel and transferred to the airport for your flight to the Kruger area (not included in costing). (B)
On arrival you will be met and transferred to your Safari accommodation.
Accommodation: 6 nights Makutsi Safari Springs.
Between the Drakensberg Mountains and the Kruger National Park on the banks of the Makutsi River, lies the family owned and managed Makutsi Safari Springs. It is raw African bush enjoyed by people who appreciate the peace and serenity of nature – palms and acacias, elephants, rhinos, giraffe, crocodiles, lions, cheetah, leopard and bushveld. Soft thermal-mineral water bubbles from two hot springs, nestling among indigenous trees. The food is a healthy variety of venison specialities, home grown vegetables and home bred beef.
Please note: The sequence of this itinerary is subject to change, you will get your final itinerary on the day of your arrival at Makutsi Safari Springs.
Meal inclusions at Makutsi Safari Springs are based on a half board basis - breakfast and dinner with simple home-style cooking. Breakfast is a buffet style which includes a selection of fresh seasonal fruits, cereals/muesli, egg orders as you like them, toast, coffee/tea etc. Dinner is a 3-course set-menu. It is important to note that no snacks (e.g. crackers, chips, nuts, chocolate etc.) are available for purchase at the Camp. Should you wish to have these additional snack supplies, it is recommended they are purchased in Cape Town before your departure. On your full day excursions lunch will be taken a local restaurant (at own expense) and on days when you are in Camp, lunch will be available from the Camp canteen (at own expense). Examples of lunch options available include sandwiches, salads, spaghetti, pies, quiche etc. as well as a selection of cakes (lunch costs range from R15 to R50 per meal).
Awake early at sunrise, and head out on a morning game drive in an open safari vehicle before breakfast. Your ranger will take you out in search of rhino, crocodile, elephant, lion, zebra, giraffe, cheetah, wild dogs and many other smaller creatures. After breakfast enjoy some leisure time at the lodge. Mid afternoon depart for another game drive before returning in time for a sundowner drink before dinner. (BD)
An early morning is in store today for a full day of game viewing in the world famous Kruger National Park itself. The early hours of the day are used for finding as much game as possible. Your guide will take a picnic style breakfast along, and a stop is made at one of the many rest areas where breakfast is served. The morning continues with more game exploration until lunchtime, when you stop at one of the camps located within the Kruger National Park for lunch (at own expense). This afternoon continue on for more exciting game viewing before returning to the lodge late afternoon. (BD)
This morning enjoy some leisure time - the warm mineral pools or your own private safari while sitting on your terrace, reading a book. You will embark mid afternoon for a 5-hour game drive on the reserve. Around sunset, light snacks and drinks will be enjoyed during a short sundowner break, before continuing your safari in search of the nocturnal animals, and finally returning for dinner at the lodge. After breakfast, depart for a day of sightseeing in the breathtaking Drakensberg Mountains and Blyde River Canyon. Several stops will be made along the way to take photographs and marvel at the region’s picturesque scenery, including the Bourke's Luck Potholes and the Three Rondavels Viewpoint overlooking the Blyde Dam. A lunch stop will be made (at own expense) before returning to Makutsi late afternoon. Today there may be opportunities to purchase locally made crafts and curios along the way. (BD)
Today you can choose your final game drive either morning or afternoon on the reserve, and the remainder of the day is for relaxing in the pool, reading on your terrace or visiting the Hippo Hide... let Africa take care of you! (BD)
After breakfast you will be transferred back to the Airport for your flight to Johannesburg (not included in cost) and your onward arrangements. (B)
