Full Itinerary
Day 1 – Arusha
On arrival into Kilimanjaro Airport you will be met and transferred to Arusha. (D)
Nestled at the foot of the wooded slopes of Mount Meru, this unique hotel in Arusha Tanzania stands amid coffee plantations on the shores of tranquil Lake Duluti. Designed to echo the traditional style of the colonial coffee farm, which originally stood on this site, Arusha Serena Hotel offers a range of tastefully presented cottage-styled rooms set amid extensive landscaped grounds.
Rooms and suites are presented in the style of stone-built cottages, which are grouped in clusters around a flower-filled central ‘village square’. Spacious and elegantly presented in classic country-house style, the accommodation features marble bathrooms, double French doors leading out into the gardens, leaded windows, a stylish work or vanity area, and large and comfortable beds.
Day 2 - Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the park. (BLD)
Standing high on the edge of a towering terracotta escarpment with panoramic views over the glittering alkaline waters of Lake Manyara, Lake Manyara Serena Lodge offers a unique blend of tranquility, wildlife discovery and ornithological richness. Grouped around a central ‘vanishing horizon’ pool, this highly unusual lodge features a simple timbered reception area, built in traditional African style, which is accessed via a bridge over a small stream. Beyond reception, lies the central dining room, bar and veranda, below which lies the pool. Perched on the very edge of the cliffs, with stunning views over the lake is the pool bar and observation point. Dotted around the grounds, all with views over the lake are a series of circular two-storey ‘rondavels’, which house the 67 rooms.
Day 3 - Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Enjoy a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. After lunch, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. (BLD)
Known as ‘the eighth wonder of the world’ the Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s best-known wildlife arenas. A UNESCO World Heritage site, it offers a unique biosphere, which has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time. Deep within the Crater, enclosed by towering walls, an abundance of wildlife wanders the plains, lakes and forests of ‘the land that time forgot’. This unique lodge clings to the rim of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, one of the largest and most perfect volcanic crater’s on earth. The lodge, with 75 rock built rooms with panoramic views, is built from local river stone and camouflaged with indigenous vines. Designed to blend completely into the landscape, it is entirely invisible from the floor of the Crater 600 metres below.
Day 4 - Ngorongoro Conservation Area
This morning after breakfast drive to the Ngorongoro Crater Park entry and descend to the floor below. Covering over 250 sq kms of land this is the home to the rare black rhino, lion, elephant, cheetah and great herds of buffalo, antelope, warthog and wildebeest. Explore the forest and Lake Makati areas where you may see flamingos and open savannah. Enjoy a picnic lunch, returning to the lodge late afternoon. (BLD)
Scenically located in a glade, known as ‘the place of the klipspringer’ (mbuzi mawe), and guarded by three million year-old granite towers, this luxury tented-camp in the Serengeti is unique. Cleverly located on one of the main annual migration corridors for over one million wildebeest, half a million zebras and gazelles, and their accompanying cast of predators it is also located at the very epicentre of one of the world’s most famous national parks.
