Set in a grove of trees, and surrounded by papyrus beds, Sanctuary Baines’ Camp is built on raised platforms high above the Boro River in a private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. Named after the 19th century explorer and painter Thomas Baines, this is Sanctuary's smallest camp with just five suites. An eco-friendly property built using only commercially grown wood, with over 150,000 recycled aluminium cans incorporated within the walls to provide insulation. The wooden walkways connect the main areas and luxury rooms. The swimming pool and the wide wooden deck that surrounds the main dining and sitting room is the ideal place to relax while observing the varied wildlife present here. See prowling lions looking for prey at the edge of the lagoon that the camp overlooks, or watch one of the many elephants who live in the area.

Exceptionally efficient, professional and helpful.

    Day 1 - Okavango Delta

    Transfer by scheduled light aircraft from Maun Airport to Stanley’s airstrip. Flying time is approximately 20 minutes. (D)

    Perched above the Boro River in a private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve, Sanctuary Baines’ Camp and its stilted, standalone suites have been transformed with larger spaces, extended decking, welcoming in the surrounding wilderness, and bold artistic interiors. This papyrus-framed luxury camp doesn’t simply overlook the world-famous Okavango Delta, it ensures guests feel fully part of this extraordinary wildlife-rich ecosystem where desert meets wetland.

    The six raised abodes at this very boutique camp have light and airy bedrooms opening out onto curved terraces overlooking the river. As intimate as this light-footed camp feels, there is still an impressive sense of scale with high windows letting in the bright African sun and framing those endless Delta horizons. Connecting so deeply with nature could not be more effortless or relaxing, and couples will relish the feeling of sharing this only with one another.

    After an exhilarating game drive, returning at dusk, nothing is more tranquil than an indulgent soak in the Star Bath, a unique freestanding bathtub on each private terrace, now a permanent feature. The suites’ four-poster beds roll out for guests to sleep under the clear, starry Delta night skies and hear the murmur of the river and hum of the nocturnal creatures, another unique feature of the camp.
